No-code platform for building, backtesting, and automating rules-based trading strategies, acquired by SoFi in 2025 to power retail investing.

Composer was founded in 2020 by Benjamin Rollert, Ananda Aisola, and Ronny Li, alumni of the Toronto-based apps Ritual and Breather, with the goal of giving retail investors access to the kind of systematic, rules-based strategies hedge funds build with code. Instead of writing scripts, users describe a strategy in plain language or assemble one visually, then backtest it against historical data before automating live trades. The company raised roughly $16.7 million across a seed round led by First Round Capital and a later round led by Left Lane Capital, building a library of user-created and licensed strategies, called 'symphonies' on the platform, covering stocks, ETFs, and options. SoFi Technologies acquired Composer in June 2025 for an undisclosed sum and relaunched it as 'Composer by SoFi,' folding its automated-strategy tools into SoFi's broader investing app rather than operating it as a standalone product.
