ML experiment tracking and LLM observability company behind Comet and Opik, used to monitor models from training through production.

Comet built its name in ML experiment tracking: log every training run, compare hyperparameters side by side, and reproduce results months later, a workflow that made it a common alternative to Weights & Biases for research and applied ML teams. Gideon Mendels and Nimrod Lahav founded the company in New York in 2017, and it grew through a Series B round led by OpenView in 2021. As LLM applications became the dominant workload for many customers, Comet built Opik, a separate product for tracing, evaluating, and monitoring LLM and RAG applications, launched in 2024 with an open-source core and a built-in coding agent, Ollie, for automated fixes based on trace data. The two products now run side by side under the Comet brand, one for traditional ML experiment tracking and one for LLM-specific observability. The company has offices in New York with employees across 14 countries, and competes against both classic MLOps tools and newer LLM-native observability startups.
