Overlay app that listens during calls, screen shares, or interviews and quietly feeds real-time answers and notes onto a window invisible to whoever's watching.

Cluely was founded in early 2025 by Chungin "Roy" Lee and Neel Shanmugam, both of whom had been suspended from Columbia University over Interview Coder, a tool they built that fed AI-generated answers to candidates during technical coding interviews. Cluely applied the same idea more broadly: an overlay that listens during any call and surfaces answers or notes that don't appear on shared screens or recordings. The company's launch marketing — built around the phrase "cheat on everything" — drew national press coverage and 70,000 signups in its first week, along with plenty of backlash calling the pitch dishonest. Cluely has since repositioned the product as a mainstream AI meeting assistant for sales calls, interviews, and everyday video meetings, while keeping the underlying no-detection technology as its core differentiator. Cluely raised $5.3 million in seed funding in April 2025 and a $15 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz two months later, at a reported $120 million valuation. The company relocated its headquarters from San Francisco to New York in late 2025 and has grown to several dozen employees.
