Autonomous AI site reliability engineer that investigates production incidents around the clock and reports findings before an on-call human even opens a laptop.

Cleric was founded in San Francisco in 2023 by Shahram Anver, who led DevOps and ML platform work at Gojek, and Willem Pienaar, a former Tecton principal engineer and creator of the open-source Feast feature store. The pair built Cleric around a simple premise: most of what an SRE does during an incident is investigation, not remediation, and a system that plugs into existing observability tools, logs and dashboards can do that legwork before a human is even paged. Cleric operates read-only against a company's infrastructure, forming and testing hypotheses about an alert's root cause and posting its findings, with confidence scores and supporting evidence, directly in Slack. It builds a persistent knowledge graph of each customer's environment so investigations get faster over time rather than starting from zero on every incident. The company raised $9.8 million in seed funding led by Vertex Ventures US, with participation from Zetta Venture Partners, and was named a Gartner Cool Vendor in 2025 for AI in SRE and observability.
