Charisma.ai
Bootstrapped studio behind a branching-dialogue engine for building AI-voiced virtual characters for games, TV, and training.

Charisma.ai was founded in 2016 by Guy Gadney, a former BBC and Sky interactive-entertainment executive, alongside Ben Salili-James, and is based in Oxford, UK. The company built a conversation engine that blends scripted, branching dialogue trees with generative AI, giving writers a way to control tone and story beats while still letting characters respond flexibly to open-ended player input. The platform has been used to build interactive characters for the BBC, PlayStation, King's College London, and Brunel University, spanning entertainment, education, and corporate training use cases. Charisma completed Comcast NBCUniversal's LIFT Labs generative AI accelerator and has since worked with parts of Comcast including Sky and Universal Destinations and Experiences. Bootstrapped with no outside venture funding, Charisma.ai runs on a team of roughly 18 people and reports around $2 million in annual recurring revenue.
