Headless CMS and visual page builder best known for Visual Copilot, an AI plugin that turns Figma designs into production React, Vue, or HTML code.

Builder.io started in San Francisco in 2018, when Steve Sewell and Brent Locks set out to fix a bottleneck they'd both seen firsthand: marketing and e-commerce teams waiting on engineers for routine page changes. The company built a visual, drag-and-drop page editor that plugs into a team's existing codebase, letting non-engineers publish and test layout changes without a full deploy cycle. In 2024 the company reoriented much of its public identity around Visual Copilot, an AI model trained on millions of paired design-and-code examples that converts selected Figma frames into React, Vue, Svelte, Angular, or plain HTML. Visual Copilot ships as a Figma plugin, a CLI, and an API that other coding tools call directly to pull in Figma layouts. The company has raised funding from investors including Greylock and M12, Microsoft's venture arm. Steve Sewell remains CEO, and Misko Hevery, the original creator of AngularJS, joined as CTO.
