Evaluation and observability platform for AI teams to test, score, and gate LLM and agent releases before they ship.

Braintrust was founded in 2023 by Ankur Goyal, who had previously built Impira, a document-processing startup acquired by Figma, where he went on to lead Figma's AI platform team. That experience building internal eval tooling for Figma's own AI features became the basis for Braintrust's product: a platform that treats evaluation, not just monitoring, as the core workflow for shipping reliable AI. The platform combines production tracing with an evals framework that lets teams score model outputs with LLM judges, human review, or custom code, and run those evals as a CI/CD gate that can block a deployment before a regression reaches users. Braintrust's proprietary trace datastore, Brainstore, is built specifically to handle the volume and structure of AI trace data at scale. Customers include Notion, Replit, Cloudflare, Ramp, and Dropbox. Braintrust raised an $80 million Series B in February 2026 led by ICONIQ, valuing the company at roughly $800 million, following a $36 million Series A backed by Andreessen Horowitz and Greylock.
