Israeli AI app-builder startup founded by solo founder Maor Shlomo; acquired by Wix in June 2025 for up to $80 million.
Base44 was created by solo, self-taught founder Maor Shlomo, an Israeli engineer who began building the product around late 2024. The platform lets non-technical users generate fully functional web and mobile applications from natural-language prompts, without writing code. Built and grown without any outside venture funding, Base44 grew quickly: it reportedly reached $1 million in annualized revenue within three weeks of launch and grew to roughly 250,000 users within about six months, run by a team of fewer than ten people. In June 2025, website-building company Wix acquired Base44 for up to $80 million in cash plus performance-based earnouts. By early 2026 Wix disclosed Shlomo was on track for additional milestone payments as Base44's annualized revenue approached $150 million.
