Aragon AI was started in San Francisco in late 2022 by Wesley Tian and Akhil N, two engineers who had previously worked at YC-backed startups and at Microsoft. The company builds an AI photo pipeline that takes a small batch of a person's selfies and returns dozens of studio-quality headshots in a chosen outfit and background, aimed at people who need a professional photo but don't want to book a photographer. Aragon turned down a Y Combinator offer in favor of Neo's accelerator and has since raised backing from Neo, Sequoia's Scout Fund, and angels tied to Vanta, DocSend, and Decagon. The product has grown mostly through word of mouth and LinkedIn shares: the company says it has generated more than 40 million photos for over 2 million users, including corporate teams that use it for standardized employee directories. Aragon runs lean, with roughly ten employees, and has said publicly that it is profitable, generating eight figures in annual revenue. Beyond headshots, the team has expanded into adjacent packs for lawyers, real estate agents, and residency/visa photo formats, along with general photo-editing add-ons like background removal and outfit swapping.
