ALICE Technologies grew out of construction-scheduling research at Stanford University and was founded by René Morkos, a second-generation civil engineer, with the company incorporated in 2015 and headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Morkos built ALICE around the idea that traditional scheduling software just records a plan someone already made, while ALICE's generative engine actually searches through possible sequences to find better ones. The platform ingests an existing schedule, whether from Primavera P6, Primavera Cloud, or a BIM model, and runs large numbers of simulated build sequences to surface schedule options a human planner is unlikely to construct by hand, optimizing for duration, cost, or resource constraints. McKinsey has partnered with ALICE to bring generative scheduling to infrastructure and data center clients, and the company reports customers seeing double-digit reductions in project duration and labor costs on capital projects, typically ones valued well above $50 million. ALICE has raised roughly $61 million in total funding, including a $30 million Series B round in 2022 that was later extended to $47 million in 2023 with backing from investors including Bouygues and JLL Spark.
